Welcome from the Principal

….If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, God will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise….. The superiority of the learned over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars…..  Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him)

A very warm welcome to the Eden Girls’ School, Coventry. We are a new faith-based (Islamic) secondary school for girls.   We promote fundamental British values and welcome applications from all faiths and none.  We opened in September 2014 with 150 girls in Year 7 and Year 8.  Each year we will welcome another set of pupils into Year 7 until we have 500 11-16 year olds in 2017. We will be opening a 200 place sixth form in 2018.

The role of headteacher is, for me, a lifetime vocation. It is both a privilege and an opportunity to lead the Eden Girls’ School, Coventry. I have worked with children for the past two decades.  This has given me the capacity to empathise with their perspective on the world and a thorough grasp of the educational means whereby their needs and aspirations can be informed, directed and met.

As educators, we engage with our pupils at the most critical phase of their transition from childhood to maturity. We receive them on trust from their parents and society and are under both a moral and a statutory duty to work in partnership to ensure that they realise their potential to become good and successful citizens.  We aspire to develop learners who are outstanding human beings, active and participatory citizens and exemplary members of their community – contributing to the development of a successful society.

At Eden Girls’ School, Coventry we aim to provide educational excellence.  For us, this is not only a responsibility to achieve high academic standards but also to foster a love of learning in our girls. It is our belief that this passion will carry our pupils to success inwhichever road they choose to travel. We look forward to working with you to developour girls, who will question without inhibition, embrace challenges without reluctance, and seek knowledge without fear.

We will be a school that will prepare our students for jobs that don’t yet exist, using technologies that have not yet been invented. Every two years, the volume of new technological information is doubling. Data is essential in today’s society.  At Eden, we will teach our pupils to analyse, reason and reflect, giving them the skills needed to progress to the forefront of their respective fields and to be successful in an ever changing world.

Our pupils will be born into the most diverse generation ever and we are committed to promoting mutual respect, acceptance and most of all, understanding.  At Eden Girls’ School we will encourage a sense of social responsibility and our girls will be expected to play an active role in their community.  The school’s progressive and inclusive faith ethos will develop our girls into successful, grounded and compassionate leaders, who will cherish the multicultural society in which we live, whilst maintaining the values and morals which are essential to all faiths and which underpin fundamental British values.

This is a school which is also committed to individual, personal nourishment, including the development of an intelligent moral, spiritual and ethical compass which will help our girls successfully navigate whatever obstacles they may face in life. We believe that everyone has a responsibility to cultivate a sense of community and belonging. “It takes a village to raise a child” holds true in so many ways. Good schools value and foster relationships with parents and families.  The power of inspirational adults working together to raise a child’s confidence and performance should not be underestimated.

At Eden we will nurture innovation, vision and resilience. We will equip our girls with the skills that will help them to solve problems that we do not even know are problems yet. With your support our students can make the impossible, possible.
