Welcome from the Chair of the Governing Body

It is a great privilege and an honour to be the Acting Chair of the Governing Body of Eden Girls’ School, Coventry.

The Governing Body has three main roles. We work in collaboration with the Principal and staff to provide a strategic system to ensure that Eden meets the national and local agenda for education. Secondly, we hold our professional colleagues to account for all aspects of Eden’s performance, from the expenditure of funds, to the academic achievements of our pupils.

There is a continuous thread of accountability in the best schools that progresses from a culture in which pupils become accountable for their own learning and progress, to staff who are accountable to senior management for performing at their best in terms of professional skills and personal commitment, to senior leadership colleagues who are required to create and deliver the vision for what may be achieved.  Lastly but certainly not of least importance, the Governing Body is collectively accountable to the students, their parents and to the wider community, to provide an educational experience that meets the needs of all learners.

I hope to work with you in creating a school that will offer educational excellence, underpinned by an inclusive faith ethos, not only through the academic curriculum but also through its Leadership specialism. Together with the Principal and staff our key aim is to ensure that we educate the whole student, equipping them to play a constructive part in the local community and beyond.

Our unique role within the community as “critical friends” is vital for evaluating and determining the strategic development of the school.  Together, we need to explore the “vision” for the school community that we wish to create and the steps by which this may be achieved.  Eden Girls’ School Coventry faces a wide variety of exciting new challenges. I have no doubt that the combined experience, skills and knowledge of our Governing Body, leadership team and staff will ensure we offer the very best to all the members of the school community.

Virtual Open Evening

Due to the current climate, the school regrets that it cannot offer an actual open evening event. However, the link below will take you to a library of videos which will hopefully showcase the various faculties across the school.
