Eden Girls’ School celebrates exceptional GCSE Results

  • 55% of students achieve a ‘strong pass’ (grades 9-5) in GCSE English and Maths.
  • 80% of students achieve a ‘standard pass’ (grades 9-4) in GCSE English and Maths.
  • 30% of students achieve the English Baccalaureate.

Students, staff and parents at Eden Girls’ School, Coventry are today celebrating exceptional GCSE results, placing the school as one of the highest achieving in the region and the country.

55% of students achieved GCSEs with grades 9-5 in English and Maths, compared to 43% nationally in 2018, and 30% achieved the English Baccalaureate, which is likely to be within the top 25% of schools nationally.

The English Baccalaureate recognises achievement in a range of academic and challenging subjects. It is awarded to students who achieve grades 9-5 in English, Maths, Science, a modern foreign language and History or Geography. Nationally, around a 17% of students achieve the English Baccalaureate.

Ibtihal achieved the top grade of 9 in five subjects – as well as three grade 8s, three grade 7s. She commented: “I feel really humbled that my friends and I have done so well. I am looking forward to the next stage of my education when I begin my A Levels”.

Head Girl Lamees achieved the top grade of 9 in three subjects – as well as five grade 8s, one grade 7. She commented: “I have enjoyed every second of the past five years and am over the moon with these results. I have my parents and teachers to thank for their support and hard work”. From September Lamees will go onto study A-Levels in Chemistry, Computer Science and Maths.

Deputy Head girl Aaminah achieved the top grade of 9 in one subject – as well as five grade 8s. She commented: “All my effort and time at Eden Girls’ School has been worth it. I am absolutely elated with my results Alhamdullilah. I am grateful to all the staff at school for their support, I couldn’t have done it without them”. From September Aaminah will go onto study A-Levels in Chemistry, Biology and Maths.

Madina achieved the top grade of 9 in three subjects – as well as four grade 8s, three grade 7s. She commented: “I feel incredibly blessed to have studied at Eden Girls’ School and gained these results”.

A pupil who was over the moon with the results achieved the top grade of 9 in seven subjects – as well as three grade 8s, one grade 7s.
