ParentPay – Cashless catering system in place this January 2017.

We are pleased to announce that Eden Girls’ School is installing a cashless catering system in January 2017.   The new system will allow us to continue the development of the school meal service.  It will provide us with a more efficient and faster service which should ultimately improve the overall quality of the catering service.  It is being used successfully in many schools across the country.

The system works alongside ParentPay, which we already use in school.  Payments that you make into ParentPay will automatically be sent to the cashless till.  At the end of the meal service, details of meal transactions and balances will be sent back to ParentPay.   The system will mean that as a parent/carer, you will not only be able to view full payment histories and statements at any time, but also to view your daughter’s meal choices on a daily basis.

The system incorporates the latest technology and eliminates the need for pupils to carry cash.   Any amount of money can be paid into your ParentPay account, and as you are already aware, you can make online payments whenever you like, 24/7. The technology used is of the highest internet security available, ensuring that your money will reach the school safely – offering you peace of mind.

We will start operating the cashless system from Monday 16th January. From this day onwards, no cash will be accepted at till points.  All students and staff will be issued with their own, unique, personalised card and given training on how to use the system.  If students lose their card, a replacement card will cost £5.

The system has the added benefit of ensuring that students who are receiving free school meals cannot be identified by other students.  Students who wish to keep this information confidential will be able to do so if they wish.  Every day, students receiving free school meals will receive £2.30 on their card for use during the day in question.  At the end of each day, any remaining balance will be removed and replaced with a new £2.30 balance for the following day.  Parents can top up the balance.  Please rest assured, any remaining balance from parents will not be removed at the end of the day.

There will be a daily ‘spend limit’ programmed into the system of £5.00.  This can be increased or decreased for an individual student by making a written request to the school finance office.

Once the new system is installed, when you log into your ParentPay account, you will see an additional button has been added – Cashless Catering. Simply click onto this and follow the instructions to top up your account, using your debit or credit card.  You can also top up with cash through a PayPoint store, although to do this you will require a unique barcode that will be issued by School.

Thank you for your support in helping us to improve the efficiency of our school meal service. Should you have any questions, please contact the school or visit the ParentPay Information page.
