Sports Studies
Why study Sport Studies?
The nature of the content, which is wide-reaching, prepares students to have a career or future education in the sports industry. The content is also designed to allow students to develop skills such as essay writing, referencing, developing examination technique, as well as working in groups and as an individual.
How will I study Sport Studies?
You will be assessed through the completion of 3 units. The learning environment is pleasant and positive where active teaching approaches are deployed to include group work, presentations, debates, assignment writing and guided practice.
What will I study at key stage 4?
Studying for an OCR Cambridge Nationals Level 1/2 in Sport Studies will allow you to draw on a range of subject content such as, the media, leadership skills, planning activity sessions, self-evaluation and National Governing Bodies. You will learn about a range of contemporary Sport issues. Each topic varies, introducing new and interesting concepts.

Enrichment
The department offers a wide variety of opportunities for students to partake in enrichment activities. Students are given the opportunity to undertake the Level 2 Qualification in Community Sports Leadership as part of their R185 course. Intervention sessions to consolidate prior learning and ensure maximum progress, are available weekly.
Careers
Careers and further education linked to the course include physiotherapy, Sports Science, sports development, coaching, teaching, among many other possible careers or avenues of training.
